Richie Havens, a standout performer at Woodstock and one of the most distinctive voices of his generation died this morning at age 72. Great singers add new emotional depth and breathe life into songs made familiar by others. Mr. Havens was one of the finest interpreters of other writers in the business. As can be heard here on his take of George Harrison’s “Here Comes The Son” and on a medley of Van Morrison’s “Tupelo Honey” and Bob Dylan’s “Just Like A Woman”.
