Mash-Up Dept.: SNL Spoofs Wes Anderson

28 Oct

I have always thought that Saturday Night Live’s strongest suits were parodies of movies and commercials. This one starring Ed Norton is no exception.

Wes Anderson’s movies vary from sweetly fey (“Moonrise Kingdom”) to quirkily amusing (“Mount Rushmore”, “The Fantastic Mr. Fox”) to just plain weird (‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou”) and horribly self-indulgent pretension (“The Royal Tenenbaums”). He is definitely one-of-a-kind in the cinema world.

This parody–what if Anderson made a horror film based on “The Royal Tenenbaums”?–is spot on. If you’ve had the dubious pleasure of watching some of Anderson’s enterprises you’ll pick up on the references immediately.
