Ear Candy Dept.: Somewhere Over The Rainbow

This is close to perfection. Of course she nailed it, she’s Pink.

This is still the greatest song ever written for the screen. No song is so thoroughly embedded in the psyche of Americans. It’s practically a national anthem. Few songs can move me to tears. This is one of them.

Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg would be proud.

    Yes, it really is. I wonder what the Garland family thought of it? As to the Oscars music presentations, I was quite impressed with Bette Midler’s Wind beneath my Wings rendition, as well. That is, as much as I can be impressed what with my flawed hearing. K

      I think Liza might have been miffed she wasn’t asked to sing it, but is her voice up to it these days? Her sister, Lorna, could have sung it, but she doesn’t have the sufficient star power for the Academy, unfortunately. At least they were invited. I haven’t seen Bette’s rendition of “The Wind Beneath My Wings” yet. Bette’s truly a great singer. She can milk the emotion out of rocks.
