Sacrilege Sunday: The Real Reason Behind The Season

20 Apr

Long before the Cult of Christianity was born, long before Christians co-opted Pagan sacred days as their own, there was Astarte, Goddess of new life, fertility and the full moon. Astarte was a far sexier and full-figured imaginary being than the wasted pretty boy depiction we usually see as Jesus The Christ. I am definitely not into these icons of crazy faith, but Earth Mothers have it over cross-bearers every time. It’s like the difference between chocolate and cottage cheese. One is alive with full sweetness. While the other is bland fodder that is supposedly good for you. So let’s hear it for the true Mother of Easter, Astarte!
