Dear Mr. Word Smith, in this case the word sounding like “there” should be written “they’re”, but you know that! KennyB

Well, thank you for correcting my mistake. However, you will find that I have difficulty with, “to” and “too”, “it’s” and “its”, “their” and “there” and “they’re”, and quite a few other of these sort of bugaboos in the English language. All told I’m doing very well in the age of text-ing, tweeting, abbreviations and acronym madness. If you want to go crazy about improper use and the failure to follow any grammatical rules just read the product reviews on Amazon. Of course, a lot of the people commenting there are using English as a second language. They can be cut a significant bit of slack. But what’s the excuse for younger people these days? Bad teachers, lousy schools? Short attentions spans? Just don’t give a fuck? Who knows.

I’ll try to be more on top of these things but, with the amount of sleep I get, it’s a miracle I can be cogent at any given time. You wouldn’t believe how much time I spend editing these blogs. I am consistently grateful that someone invented spell check. Even if it can’t catch things like “there” used where “they’re” needs to be.
